Setting Up Your POP Email Address in Mozilla Thunderbird
This tutorial shows you how to set up Mozilla Thunderbird™ to work with your e-mail account. These settings are similar in other versions of Mozilla Thunderbird™. You can set up previous versions of Mozilla Thunderbird™ by using the settings in this tutorial.
Please Note: Substitute your own domain where applicable. Eg: "mail.yourdomain.ca" & "smtp.yourdomain.ca".
To Set Up Your E-mail Account in Mozilla Thunderbird™
When opening Thunderbird for the first time you will see the screen above.
Select Email account and click "Next" button.
Enter in your first and last name; this name will be displayed on all your emails.
Enter your email address, this will set the "From" field in any email that you send.
Click "Next" button.
Select "Pop" as your incoming email server.
Set the "Incoming Server" as mail.yourlink.ca
Set the "Outgoing Server" as smtp.yourlink.ca
Click "Next" button.
Set both the Incoming and outgoing user name as your email address.
Click "Next" button.
Set "Account Name" field to whatever you desire. This gives a title to your email account in your main window. This is useful if you have multiple accounts.
Click "Next" button.
Verify that all your information is correct and click "Finish".
Now you will be presented with "Enter your password" window. If you do not know your password, please contact Yourlink technical support at 1-888-671-5465 for a password reset.
Congratulations your email account has been successfully set up.
SMTP Authentication Configuration in Thunderbird
Enter the YourLink SMTP Server Name
Make sure that "Use name and password" is checked
Enter your account name. Thunderbird will prompt you for the password the first time you send e-mail.
YourLink does not use a secure connection. Leave the No radio button selected
